Services and Church Life

Bethany follows a traditional, but welcoming, warm and lively style of worship, meeting on Sundays at 10.30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.; with a further, more informal worship service on Thursdays at 10. a.m.

There are three mid-week Bible Study groups and a monthly mid-week meeting for prayer. All church members are encouraged to pray at home on a daily basis. Further activities: mums and toddlers; Sunday School; youth activities - Boys' Club; Guides and Brownies. The church has a full-time Minister, elders and deacons and is in active membership with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and E.G.E.B.A. Both Baptist Praise and Worship and Mission Praise are used in services.
Mission Statement

Bethany accepts the Baptist Union of Great Britain’s Declaration of Principle: The Lordship of Christ; the Authority of the Bible; Believer's Baptism; a Believers' Church; the Priesthood of all Believers; the Authority of the Church Meeting; Associating Together; the Missionary Task; Religious Freedom.

Each Christian has a duty to share his or her faith with others, demonstrating in word and action God's forgiving and healing love. Mission involves evangelism but also includes promoting justice, social welfare, healing, education and peace in the world. People are called and enabled to experience the love of God for themselves.
Christianity and Church Life

Christianity is about the most marvellous person to walk this earth - Jesus Christ. God who created the universe placed the human race, which he loved, to live on earth. He loved and cared for them and showed them how to live. Even though they rebelled against him, God continued to guide them over the centuries.

His love reached its pinnacle in the death and resurrection of his Son, Jesus, who was God in human form. The early followers of Jesus believed him to be God's way of communication not only with the Jews but with all nations. The death of Jesus was God's way of dealing with human sin and wrong-doing. The resurrection shows the power of the living Jesus still with us. Christians believe this and proclaim it to the world.
